About Us

What could possibly unite Restoration-style* landscaping, nest protection during tree crown pruning, and the monthly lawn mowing? They all co-exist peacefully under the roof of Heal-Y Tree Surgeons! Some might say we are too ambitious in our service reach. We beg to differ, and let us tell you why!

It All Started As A Tree Maintenance Business

A small team of like-minded enthusiasts founded Heal-Y a few years ago strictly as a tree surgeon contractor. We felt passionate about tree upkeep and its importance for the eco-system in London. After a while, however, we realised that tree doctoring is only the tip of the iceberg. If homeowners called us to prune their fruit tree or remove a few branches from the nearby chestnut, they would also ask for advice about their garden and hedge maintenance.

While we had the desire to give it, we did not have the expertise – at least not at the level where we would be comfortable to offer it at all. Thus the second stage of our company growth began – hiring a new team of gardening specialists.

One thing lead to the other, and landscaping was only the next step in a logical evolution. Perhaps we did not realise it initially, but we had always wanted a holistic approach to maintaining the domestic green space. You cannot treat a tree in a vacuum, apart from the surrounding garden or lawn – if you do, you are not providing an efficient service. Once we understood that, it was only a matter of time before becoming one of the leading tree doctoring and landscaping contractors in London.

What Are Our Plans For The Future?

The Covid pandemic has brought two almost thoroughly opposed trends in our business. The negative one – people have felt the economic crisis and cut on any expense that they do not see as vital.

The positive trend, however, is more interesting. Many people spend significantly more time at home and indulge in their hobbies, gardening being a prime example. We have noticed an increased proficiency among our customers – they ask much sharper and more detailed questions, express great interest in tools and materials, have a myriad of fresh ideas about their garden.

We do not think that this is a short-term, coincidental trend – people will pay much more attention to their surroundings and spending an extra hour in the garden will become the norm, not the exception. It only makes us even more inspired and determined to work harder to meet our customers’ higher expectations and demands!

*Charles II of England and Scotland, who restored the monarchy in 1660, was a great patron of gardening and landscaping. The gardens at Hampton Court are an excellent example of Restoration-style landscaping at its most magnificent.
